The opening rate for SMS messages was much lower at 78%, with many users stating that they usually skip reading SMS messages unless it is an OTP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcac Why Do Users Prefer WhatsApp?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Brand Visibility<\/strong>: Verified business profiles imbue trust.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rich Media Support<\/strong>: Images, videos, buttons, and catalogs reinforce communication.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Two-Way Conversations<\/strong>: Users respond to businesses; SMS is mostly one-way.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No Character Limit<\/strong>: Businesses can describe offers without worrying about 160-character cuts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udc49 \u201cI read all WhatsApp offers from my bank but ignore most SMSes as they feel generic,\u201d said Anjali Mehta, a 28-year-old working woman from Pune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcf2 Value of SMS Remains-Typically OTPs and Alerts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, <strong>SMS continues<\/strong> to be the <strong>highest medium<\/strong> for issuing <strong>OTP <\/strong>and urgent alerts, such as banking transactions.
